Nihon ~ the final flourish

Over the last three years Molly Arnthal has spent her time and efforts emerging herself into Japan, a country she has always, instinctively, yearned to experience. The majority of the western world maintains misconceptions about the customs and elegant rituals that are kept alive by the Japanese. There is, of course, so much more than the facsimile of the landscape that we are so often presented in film and literature.

In this photo journal, Arnthal has documented the intimate ways in which heritage and modernity collide in her adoptive home of Osaka and beyond.
